Rising Above Weariness

Often times I find that I'm tired, dragging, and just plain worn out. It seems as if no matter how much sleep I get, I don't ever seem to be able to catch up. I know that it is everyday life that does this to all of us. Between those of us who work, or are stay at home mom's, kids, school, just life itself we can grow weary.

But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.- Isaiah 40:31 (NLT)

Weary women everywhere! I see them, I listen to them, I look into their tired eyes, and wonder how they became so "wearied out" in the first place. Life has surely pounded some of them right into the ground! To others life has apparently been good, but still a weariness invades their personalities.

In the Bible the unweary God speaks to the point, telling us that "even youths will become exhausted" (Isa. 40:30). The Creator, who is never weary, invites the wearied ones to spend time in His presence; to bathe in the atmosphere of eternal strength; to drink in the air of His power-giving presence- to "wait" long enough to renew their lives.

God will mend our raw nerve endings with the stitches of His peace. God's promise to those who look to Him for such renewal is that they will not be shamed (Isa. 49:23).

Are you weary of your weariness? Wouldn't you like to rise above it? Have confidence in the LORD, who can help you soar on wings like the eagle! Start "waiting" today. You can wait on the Lord, anytime, anywhere. You can stop internally even as your are busy externally. You can wait on the Lord in the car, in the supermarket, at the playground, or in a meeting.

When you feel almost too weary to flap your winds one more time, try "waiting." Soon you'll be competing with the eagle-and soaring high.

Let's pray:

Lord,
Thank You for Your constant presence that allows us to pause to gather strength and courage from You no matter where we are. Remind us that when we are weary to look to You for renewal and refreshment in our lives.

Amen.

With Love,
"B"
