" To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you," 1 Peter 1:4.
I don't really go all out for St. Patrick's Day. Although I do respect the role that St. Patrick played in history, I'm not Irish, nor Catholic, nor do I believe in luck. About all I do is make sure my kid wears green to school and what a good excuse to have corned beef and cabbage. I can say that thinking about this holiday and how people talk about the "luck" of the Irish does remind me how blessed I am.
My rainbow as it were is my relationship with the Lord and it does lead over to my pot of gold. That relationship with the Lord entitles me to so much. It's all there waiting for me, just because I have accepted Christ as my Lord.
Look at all the wonderful things waiting for us in heaven!
*There's Joy There.
Look how the angels rejoice over a soul that accepts Christ. I so want to live in a place of joy. There's so much here on this earth that isn't full of joy. The things in this life on earth can bring so much heartache and heartbreak, but there's a place of joy at the end of my rainbow and I can't wait to embrace that.
" I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. Either what woman have ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I found the piece which I had lost. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth." - Luke 15:7.
*There's Rest There.
I'm so glad that there's a place waiting for me where there's no trouble and it's a place of rest. This world is full of trouble. Just pick up the newspaper or turn on the TV and you'll see it everywhere. And sometimes I feel so tired and weary, but in heaven that's all gone. God wipes away those tears.
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.: - Revelation 21:4.
*God's There.
To me that's just so exciting to know that we will live with the Lord forever. That the King of Glory, the Beginning and the End is there sitting on the throne. We know that now, but just think about being in His presence.
"And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely." - Revelation 21:5.
*There's Beauty There.
Sometimes I see those beautiful places to live on HGTV and I am just in awe at the level of extravagance that some people live, but think about heaven. Hey! There's streets of gold there! We'll be walking on them! The bible also mentions, gates of pearl, jasper walls, jeweled foundations. What extravagance that the Lord went to for us, His children.
" In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you into myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." - John 14:3.
*I have An Inheritance There.
What a consolation it is to me to know that I'm an heir of Christ. Because I accepted Him into my life, I have an incorruptible inheritance. I don't have to worry about any legal papers being drawn up, wait for a DNA result, or put my trust in a lawyer to prove it. I don't have to be in any doubt that I will receive what's mine at the end of the rainbow. I know heaven is mine because my name is written in the Book of Life. I know the things of this world will not last but there is heaven waiting for me because there was a time and place that I accepted Christ.
" And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." - Romans 8:17,18.
*I Have A New Body There.
I don't know about you, but my body here on earth could use a little repair. It's flesh. It's not going to last, but we do have a promise that we will be changed. Philippians talks about our citizenship in heaven and how God will change our bodies.
"for our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself." - Philippians 3:20,21.
I love the thought that I have a rainbow that leads to a pot of gold and it's not imaginary or made-up. My relationship with the Lord leads over to a wonderful treasure. Eternal life with Christ in a beautiful place--what a thought.
We only get glimpses of heaven when we read the bible. A rainbow is basically a prism and all we get are just those little reflections of light that forms its beauty. It's like that when we look towards heaven and read all those passages scattered throughout God's word on the subject. We only see light reflections that allow us just a glimpse of the beauty that awaits us. I think about how God allows us to look through the eyes of John in the book of Revelation, but they are just small insights to all that is waiting there. I can't wait to see it all, to be there in heaven with Christ. I love what the bible says in 1 Peter 1:-3-5:
" Blessed be the God and Father our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."
So, what's at the end of your rainbow?
Lets' Pray:
Father God,
We come to You with such awe in the pot of gold that you have created for us in heaven. We are excited for that time when we can sit by your side and share Your inheritance that You have prepared for us. Help us to remember that it is You who have loved us so much that You have created a Kingdom for all of Your children to be with You, we thank You for that. Help us remember that You are the Beginning and the End and that Your promise awaits us in Heaven.
Amen.
With Love,
"B"
